The world where people turn up, overdo it and quit is a world that is also filled with the people that buy into 90 day workouts, crash diets and the rest of the marketing BS.
The commercial gym environment is set up to get people to join, set up their direct debit and never actually attend. Those that do attend either overdo it and quit, or never see a result(because they never record their progress or strive to improve) and quit. If gyms were to take the time to properly design programs and support clients, the problems you mentioned wouldn't exist.
Every day you train, train the best you can, when it's time to take a break, take a break. If your not improving, you're exercising, not training.

Hi, I thought your point about food was excellent. About training, mmmm, not that keen on your last paragraph, "always improve what you are doing or don't bother". In a world where people hit the gym, overdo it and quit I think sometimes just turning up to train is really important. You are supposed to keep training all of your life, so keep the habit. Some days you won't train well, some days you will. just enjoy it and keep it up.
